Heartache for Maxwell as he’s disqualified at worlds

Sam Maxwell suffered heartache on the second day of the AIBA World Boxing Championships as he was disqualified in the third round of his opening fight in Almaty.

Fighting Italian Dario Vangeli in his light welterweight opener, Maxwell was on the front foot throughout and landed two good shots at the end of round two.

The pair clash again the third and after an accidental collision of heads, the contest was stopped with Maxwell adjudged by the referee to have infringed and disqualified.
