Great Britain's Paul Goodison not only overcame debilitating back pain to compete on Wednesday but recorded a decent fourth-place finish in the afternoon's first Laser race.
The 34-year-old sailor picked up the injury at the beginning of the second race of London 2012, leading to some unusually poor finishes in the regatta so far.
Goodison managed to overcome the pain to finish second in Tuesday's final race, but came off the water in tears and admitted his regatta was in jeopardy.
The Yorkshireman, though, was back on the water after responded well to treatment overnight.
Goodison began race five well and was among the chasing pack throughout, finishing fourth as fierce rival Tom Slingsby of Australia ended ninth. The result capped a great start to the day for the British sailing team, who saw Nick Dempsey move up to third overall in the men's RS:X standings.
The Norwich-born windsurfer burst out of the pack in the afternoon's first race to finish fifth in a race in which Dorian van Rijsselberge picked up his third successive 'bullet' - sailing terminology for a victory.
However, Dutchman Van Rijsselberge was undone in the day's final race, finishing third as Dempsey secured a photo-finish victory over Greece's Byron Kokalanis.
A close finish went the other way for another Brit, though, as Ali Young ended second, just behind Belgium's Evi Van Acker, in the Laser Radial class.
Meanwhile, Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes moved to overall fifth in the 49er standings after a good day on the water.
The Exmouth duo posted a fourth and second in Portland Harbour, although Australia's Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen continued to lead the way after a second and a first today.
