Great Britain’s athletes signed off from this season’s Diamond League in style as the competition drew to a close in Brussels.
European champion Eilidh Child got the evening off to a fantastic start as her time of 54.76 seconds in the 400m hurdles not only saw her finish the race third but also meant she finished second in the Diamond race.
Fellow European champion James Dasaolu clocked a season’s best of 10.00 to finish fifth in a high quality 100m field at the Memorial Van Damme.
Lynsey Sharp continued the excellent form that has seen her win Commonwealth Games and European Championship 800m silver with a second place finish in the Belgian capital.
Coming off the bend in fourth, Sharp moved wide before powering up the straight to snatch second in 1.58.94 minutes, just behind winner Brenda Martinez to see the Scot take third overall in the Diamond race.
In a strong 110m hurdles field William Sharman had to settle for sixth in a race won by Diamond race winner Pascal Martinot-Lagarde, the European silver medallist stopping the clock at 13.31 seconds.
Jodie Williams was eighth in the 200m with a time of 22.92, Conrad Williams took fifth in the 400m, crossing the line in 45.64.
The only British athlete in field event action was Luke Cutts and he finished eighth in the pole vault after clearing 5.55m with his second attempt. World record holder Renauld Lavillenie took victory to inevitably wrap up the Diamond race.
