Great Britain face Argentina in Fed Cup play-off

Laura Robson and Heather Watson’s Fed Cup heroics against Bulgaria have been rewarded with a winnable away tie against lower-ranked Argentina in the World Group II play-off.

The British duo both won their singles matches in the Euro/Africa Group I play-off held in Israel, but a win against Argentina, ranked one place below Great Britain in 16th, would move Judy Murray’s side into the Fed Cup’s World Group in 2014.

The tie will be held on April 20-21 and the young duo, who both are ranked inside the world’s top 50, will be hoping to take the side one stage further than last year when they feel 4-1 to Sweden.

That result dropped Great Britain back into the qualifiers for this year’s tournament but Murray insists her side will have no better opportunity to qualify for the World Group outright.

Murray said: "Argentina away on clay will be a tough challenge for us but we have a strong squad and a huge opportunity to grab a place in the World Group Vamos!"
