Grabarz has Ukhov in his sights at World Championships

It’s a case of slow and steady wins the race for Robbie Grabarz as he bids to enact some revenge on Russian Ivan Ukhov this summer.

The Great Britain high-jumper won bronze at London 2012 but has gotten off to a somewhat slow start this season with finishes of fourth and fifth in the opening two Diamond League meetings.

However Grabarz is not about to panic and is focusing all his attentions on coming good in time for the World Championships this summer in Moscow.

And after Ukhov won Olympic gold in Grabarz’s back yard last summer, the 25-year-old is hellbent on turning the tables around in Russia.

“It’s been a slow start to the season but its good looking forward,” he said.

“There’s nothing majorly wrong. We’ve just been working on a lot so I’m expecting my gains to come later on in the season.

“I’m hoping to go out to the World Championships as strong as possible and fight for a medal. The goal is still to win in Ukhov’s back yard like he did to me in London.”
