Great Britain Olympic hopefuls Piggy French and Oliver Townend both won novice classes on day one of the Belton Horse Trials in Lincolnshire.
French triumphed with Bellevue Chinchilla, while Townend won aboard DHI Bandit King.
Both riders are among a high-class field for Sunday's showpiece Grantham Cup three-star event.
