GB basketball side to face France

Great Britain have been drawn alongside fellow Olympians France for next year's EuroBasket in Slovenia.

Britain will play in Group A alongside France, Germany, Belgium, Ukraine and Israel.

France were the runners-up to Spain in 2011 and overcame injury problems to reach the quarter-finals at the London Olympics, finishing sixth.

Germany could be the other really dangerous team in Britain's group, though their strength will depend on whether Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki commits to play.

Britain qualified automatically for the EuroBasket by virtue of having played at the Olympics. They had qualified on merit for the previous two EuroBaskets in 2009 and 2011.

Britain are currently without a coach, with Chris Finch having stepped down following the Olympics.

EuroBasket 2013 will be played from 4-22 September.
