Fox-Pitt in charge

William Fox-Pitt is firmly on course to successfully defend the CCI three-star title at this year's Tattersalls International Horse Trials near Dublin.

The world number one holds a comfortable lead on Bay My Hero heading into Sunday's showjumping finale.

Fox-Pitt picked up 2.4 time penalties in Saturday's cross-country phase, but his overnight score of 44.0 is well clear of British colleague Polly Stockton (Westwood Mariner) and Ireland's Sarah Ennis (Sugar Brown Babe).

In-form Australian Christopher Burton, meanwhile, is in charge of both the CCI two-star and one-star categories.

He leads the two-star with Underdiscussion, although British pair Oliver Townend (ODT Ghareeb) and Lucy Wiegersma (Wish Upon a Star) have an outside chance of catching him on Sunday.

And Shropshire-based Townend lies second aboard Cooley Master Class in the one-star section, 6.9 penalties behind Burton and Graf Liberty.
