Fowler one win away from guaranteed medal at worlds

Anthony Fowler is one win away from a guaranteed medal at the AIBA World Boxing Championships after a stylish last 16 victory in Kazakhstan.

The 22-year-old middleweight dispatched of Dmytro Mytrofanov of the Ukraine 3-0 to reach the quarter-finals where German Stefan Hartel lies in wait.

With victory over Hartel, Fowler would advance to the semi-finals with at least bronze assured and if his performance over Mytrofanov is anything to go by he’s looking good for it.

He won on all of the judge’s cards however there was also British disappointment in the middleweight draw as fellow GB Boxing member and Scot Aston Brown was eliminated.

Brown’s Irish opponent Jason Quigley scored with cleaner shots throughout the contest to take his place in the last eight in Almaty.
