Fogg one of five Brits set for Mexico Marathon World Cup

Daniel Fogg is set for a tough and competitive outing as one of five British open water swimmers at the FINA 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup in Mexico on Saturday according to Berni Dietzig.

Fogg, who finished eighth in the 1500m freestyle and fifth in the 10km open water events at London 2012, was initially selected for the World Cup meets in Brazil and Argentina earlier this year.

He didn’t compete however but is due to join fellow Brits Jack Burnell, Tom Allen, Tom Sunter and Lucinda Campbell as the World Cup moves to another sea venue in Cozumel in Mexico.

And interim open water lead Dietzig is looking forward to seeing how the British quintet cope with what is thrown at them in South America.

“Cozumel is going to be another sea swim where our swimmers further improve their open water racing,” said Dietzig.

“Most of the world’s best open water swimmers will be present, similar to the races held in Brazil and Argentina earlier this year.

“I predict that this race is going to be extremely tough and competitive.”
