Mo Farah insists he is itching to get going after revealing his first outing of 2015 will be at the international Great Edinburgh Cross Country.
Farah endured a roller coaster 2014 campaign, finishing eighth on his marathon debut in London in April, then missing the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow through illness before winning double gold at the European Championships in Zurich in August.
The 31-year-old will face another big season next year as he looks to successfully defend his 5000m and 10,000m world titles in Beijing.
And Farah’s assault on the World Championships will be kickstarted in Scotland on January 10 as he returns to the international Great Edinburgh Cross Country.
It will be Farah’s first cross-country race for four years with his last coming in the 8k Great Edinburgh International race, an event that he won.
And Farah admits he is looking for more of the same as he aims to start 2015 with a bang.
"Next year will be an important year for me," said Farah, who won double gold at the London 2012 Olympics. "And I'm looking forward to returning to the Great Edinburgh Cross Country to kick off my season.
"For many years, I ran cross-country to build my base for the summer track season and it will be nice to return to Edinburgh and try to repeat my winning run of 2011 there.
"It was a fantastic feeling winning the Great North Run in front of a home crowd in September and I'm sure there will be plenty of support in Edinburgh for my first event in 2015.”
