EYOWF Day 3 Preview

Day three sees the start of the boys and girls figure skating competition. Both Amani Fancy and Graham Newberry make their Team GB debuts as they take to the ice to skate their short programmes.

Speaking ahead of his EYOWF debut Newberry said:

“I am excited for my competition to start. I have been skating well and my training out here has gone really well. I have watched some of the short track speed skating and seeing Kat (Thomson) get her medal was really inspiring. I would love to win a medal, but I will go out there and just do my best and we’ll see what happens.”

After a day’s training Darcie Mead (Kingston-Upon Thames) is back in action on the slopes in action in the girls slalom event.

Alpine skiing coach Paul Telling said:

“Darcie is looking good and strong. She is currently skiing the best she ever has in this discipline. She is one of the youngest in the field and the standard will be high but she is motivated and we have set some realistic targets. I am sure it will be another good day and importantly another step in her development.”
