England beaten Down Under

England went down 2-0 to Australia in their quarter-final clash at the hockey Champions Trophy in Melbourne.

Jamie Dwyer and Christopher Ciriello scored in either half as Australia went forward to a semi-final meeting with India.

It was a somewhat fortunate opening goal for Australia, with Jason Wilson taking advantage of a slip from Henry Weir to snatch the ball and find Dwyer for the finish.

But Australia were the stronger team in the second half and fully deserving of their second via a quick flick from Ciriello.

England now drop into the classification rounds and will face Belgium on Friday night.
