Double Olympic bronze medallist Max Whitlock was the best British performer at the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in France after claiming second place on the pommel horse.
The 20-year-old was one of four Brits in action in La Roche-sur-Yon with fellow Olympic bronze medallists Sam Oldham and Kristian Thomas and Rebecca Downie also making the trip.
And Whitlock, who with Oldham, Thomas, Louis Smith and Daniel Purvis won Britain’s first Olympic gymnastics men’s team medal for a century with bronze London 2012, was the pick of the bunch.
He placed second during the qualification round on the pommel horse with a score of 15.333 before improving that to 15.700 in the four-strong final in France to maintain the same ranking.
Krisztian Berki, who beat Smith and Whitlock to Olympic pommel horse gold in London, the pair settling for silver and bronze respectively, took victory after scoring 15.966 for his final routine.
That was Whitlock’s one and only outing in France while Oldham competed in three events with a best of fourth in the floor final with a score of 13.100 as Flavius Koczi finished first with 15.366.
Oldham placed sixth and 11th in qualification on the horizontal bar and rings respectively while Thomas was seventh in the same round in the vault.
Meanwhile Downie, who was the only British female in action in La Roche-sur-Yon, ranked fifth in qualification on the uneven bars with a score of 13.066.
