Double London Olympic medallist Whitlock leads Euro charge

Double London 2012 Olympic medallist Max Whitlock will be looking to add to his impressive haul of European Championship medals when the competition gets underway in Sofia next week.

Whitlock, who won team and individual pommel horse bronze at the London Games, will lead British Gymnastics male charge in Bulgaria looking to pick up where he left off, having won a gold, silver and bronze from the 2013 European Championships in Moscow.

Beijing Olympian Daniel Keatings will join Whitlock in Sofia and is going for the hat-trick of pommel horse titles having climbed the top step of the European podium last year and in 2010 in Birmingham.

London Olympians Sam Oldham, Dan Purvis and Kristian Thomas have all won medals at European or World Championships and complete the formidable British line-up who will be aiming to defend their team title from 2012 - the last time the European Championships included a senior team competition.

The team are joined by five junior gymnasts in the form of 2013 European Youth Olympic champion Brinn Bevan, 2014 British junior champion Nile Wilson, Jay Thompson, Giarni Regini-Moran and Joe Fraser.
