Dew Tour begins and more World Cup action this weekend

The Dew Tour, a big fixture on the freestyle ski and snowboard calendar, started in Breckenridge yesterday, with Rowan Cheshire (Ski Halfpipe) and Aimee Fuller (Snowboard Slopestyle) already making it through to the finals which take place on Friday. Also competing is James ‘Woodsy’ Woods (Ski Slopestyle) who takes on qualifying today, with the finals being on Sunday. Jamie Nicholls (Snowboard Slopestyle) is on the alternate list at present.

For Team BSS athlete Dom Harington, the Snowboard Half Pipe World Cup in Ruka, Finland takes precedent this weekend as he strives to gain the results he needs to reach Olympic Qualifying Standards and be considered for a spot on Team GB for Sochi 2014.

Ruka also sees Moguls Skiers Ellie Koyander and Max Willis compete in the Freestyle Moguls World Cup this weekend, their first big competition of the winter season.

For the Team BSS Ski Cross racers, they will compete in their second World Cup of the season in Val Thorens, France on Saturday and Sunday. In action is Emily Sarsfield (who finished in 24th last weekend in Nakiska, Canada), Pam Thorburn, Ed Drake and Pete Whelan.

In Carezza Italy, Adam McLeish will take part in his first World Cup of the season, competing in Snowboard Parallel Giant Slalom and Parallel Slalom.

The GB Cross Country team will also be in World Cup action in Davos, Switzerland with Andrew Musgrave in the 30k freestyle event on Saturday,  He will compete alongside Andrew Young in the Sprint freestyle on Sunday. For the women, after an outstanding performance in Austria last week, Posy Musgrave will also take on the Sprint freestyle event in Davos on Sunday.

Delancey Alpine Ski Squad athlete Dave Ryding is in action twice this weekend on Saturday in San Viligio, Italy for a FIS Europa Cup Slalom race and on Sunday for the FIS Europa Cup night Slalom in Pozza di Fassa.

Then on Sunday, the first Aerials World Cup of the year is being hosted at Beida Lake in China, with Harry Gillam competing in his first World Cup of the 2013/14 season.
