Daley and Waterfield in the medals

Tom Daley and Pete Waterfield both finished in the medals in the final of the men's 10m platform at the FINA Diving World Series in Beijing.

Daley, the 2009 world champion in this discipline, took silver after a strong set of dives throughout.

The 17-year-old found himself in the lead after the first round but was powerless to prevent China's Qui Bo overhauling him in the second round of dives on his way to the gold medal.

Nevertheless, the Briton was delighted with his efforts and wrote on his official Twitter account: "Wooooop! So happy! Just won a silver in the beijing leg of the world series in the individual...scored 541...the gap is closing!!! :)"

Daley scored a total of 541.15 in securing silver, while Waterfield recovered from a slow start to secure the bronze medal with a total score of 531.80.

Daley and Waterfield also combined to take silver in Friday's 10m platform synchro.
