Daley and Couch win bronze on final day of World Series open

Olympic bronze medallist Tom Daley ensured Britain left the Diving World Series opener in Beijing with three medals to show for their efforts as he returned to the Water Cube.

Daley, the youngest member of the British team at the Beijing 2008 Olympics, took 10m platform bronze in China while Tonia Couch picked up the same colour in the women’s event.

Britain had begun the World Series opener with bronze in the 10m synchro from Lee Matthew and Daniel Goodfellow with Daley and Couch trebling the British team’s tally on the final day.

Olympic bronze medallist Daley scored 525.05 points in total as China’s Qiu Bo won silver and teammate Yuan Cao gold after almost breaking the 600-point barrier.

Couch meanwhile, making her return from a dislocated knee, posted a total score of 357.90 with Pandelela Rinong Pamg taking silver and Huixia Liu gold for another Chinese win.
