Cheshire and Lonsdale impress in World Cup qualifying

Great Britain's Rowan Cheshire produced a top five qualifying performance to reach the women's ski halfpipe final at the World Cup in Calgary.

Cheshire, who recently secured her first top ten at World Cup level, produced her best-ever qualifying result and will be joined in the final by team-mate Emma Lonsdale, who ranked ninth.

Canada's Megan Gunning set the standard with Switzerland's Virginie Faivre and Australia's Amy Sheenan also impressing.

However, Great Britain's men just failed to make the top 12 that progressed. Murray Buchan ranked 13th, his best result, and James Machon 16th.
