Cawthorn impresses at sprint canoe World Cup

Rachel Cawthorn progressed as the quickest qualifier from her semi-final on a solid day for British boats at the canoe sprint World Cup in Racice.

Cawthorn looked smooth in the women's K1 500m while three other boats also booked their final progression.

Lani Belcher, who is competing in four events this weekend, made the K1 1000m alongside team-mate Luisa Sawers and joined forces with Angela Hannah to make the nine-boat K2 500m final.

Cawthorn and Belcher are paired together in Saturday's K2 200m while British team-mates Liam Heath and Jon Schofield, K2 200m bronze medallists at the London 2012 Olympics, and silver medallists in last year’s World Championships, will also be in action.
