Canoe duos power through to final

Britain's canoe slalom team gave themselves a great chance of a medal today as both two-man boats qualified for the final.

David Florence and Richard Hounslow won the semi-final, while Etienne Stott and Tim Baillie qualified in sixth place.

The teams now go on to race in the final later this afternoon.

Both Hounslow and Florence failed to qualify for the finals in their respective singles events, but both teams pulled it out of the bag as they were watched by LOCOG chairman Lord Coe and Sir Clive Woodward, Team GB's director of elite performance.

Three-time Olympic champions in the C2 event, Slovakian twin brothers Pavol and Peter Hochschorner, qualified in second place while the in-form French pairing of Gauthier Klauss and Matthieu Peche placed third.
