Double Olympic champion Andy Triggs Hodge stroked Great Britain's eight to a record breaking victory at the Henley Royal Regatta.
The British crew shaved three seconds off the record to clock a time of 5:54 over the world-famous course, beating US college crew the University of Washington by a length.
“That was an awesome row," said Triggs Hodge, whose crew now look towards the forthcoming World Cup in Lucerne and the World Championships later this summer.
"It was our best yet. The rhythm through the middle was bullet-proof, the record time was just a by-product of the rhythm that we built”.
Olympic champion Helen Glover - combining with two-time Olympic silver medallist Frances Houghton and international newcomers Polly Swann and Vicky Meyer Laker - won the women's quadruple sculls title and the British women's eight were also victorious.
But there was disappointment for Olympic bronze medallist single sculler Alan Campbell, who was beaten by good friend, Azerbaijan's Aleksandr Aleksandrov, in the Diamond Challenge Cup.
And British partnership Matt Langridge and Bill Lucas found Australia's Mike Arms and Rob Manson just too hot to handle in the final of the double sculls.
