Bolarinwa wins 100m as Gemili opts out

Rising sprint star Adam Gemili opted not to compete over 100 metres at the Aviva England Under-20 Championships in Bedford as David Bolarinwa booked his place in the World Under-20 Championships with victory.

Gemili, who recently clocked 10.08 seconds in Regensburg to achieve the Olympic A standard, is set to go up against Bolarinwa over 200m on Sunday.

Bolarinwa will now go to the World Under-20s in Barcelona pending formal selection, as will Sophie Papps, who won the women's 100m race in 11.47secs, and Sophie McKinna, who set a new personal best of 16.21m in the shot put.

In addition to Gemili, Katerina Johnson-Thompson is set to be one of the headline performers on Sunday. Johnson-Thompson recently achieved the Olympic heptathlon A standard with a total of 6,248 points and is set to compete in the 100m hurdles, long jump and high jump.
