British Olympic Association Chairman Colin Moynihan will attend a series of London Prepares sporting events during the next week to lend his support to British athletes and sports in their preparations for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“Athletes across the UK are entering the final stages in their preparation for London 2012, and the competition to earn a place on Team GB promises to be more challenging and intense than ever before.  At this critical stage in their preparation, it’s important for the athletes who aspire to represent Team GB in London 2012 to know they have the full support of our nation behind them,” Moynihan said.

“Having received the official invitation for Team GB to compete in the 2012 Olympic Games just last week from IOC President Jacques Rogge, and with less than a year to go, the focus is now squarely on London 2012 and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for 550 British athletes to compete in a Home Games. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to see so many of our best athletes in action at the Olympic venues.”

During the next week, Lord Moynihan will be in attendance at the following events:

4th August - 2011 World Rowing Junior Championships, Dorney Lake

7th August - 2011 Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship, Hyde Park

8th August - YONEX BWF World Badminton Championships - Wembley Arena

9th August - Visa FIVB Beach Volleyball International, Horse Guards Parade

The London Prepares series provides aspiring Team GB and international athletes with an important opportunity to familiarise themselves with the same venue in which they may be competing less than a year from now.
