Baku 2015: Duo putting acrobatic gymnastics on the map

Hannah Baughn and Ryan Bartlett hope they have put acrobatic gymnastics on the map after claiming mixed pair all-around bronze at the European Games.

Earlier on Friday, the women's group of Jennifer Bailey, Cicely Irwin and Josephine Russell finished sixth in their all-around final with a score of 81.750.

Next up were Baughn and Bartlett in the mixed pair all-around final, having booked their spot in the showpiece earlier in the week, and the pair racked up a score of 85.160 to edge out Ukranian pair Yelyzaveta Vasylyga and Shpyn Oleksandr for the bronze medal.

Russians Marina Chernova and Georgy Pataraya finished first and Belgium's Yana Vastavel and Solano Cassamajor were second, but there was little dampening the mood of Baughn and Bartlett as they picked up Team GB’s first European Games gymnastics medal.

Baughn said: “The bronze means everything to us and we’re so happy to have won here. All that extra hard work has paid off and it’s really exciting.

“We can’t wait to get out there again in the other finals and try and get another one.

Bartlett said: “This has just been the best experience so far and I can’t believe we’ve got here. It just shows that hard work pays off.

“I’m so happy that we’ve been able to show off our sport to the whole country.”

“Hopefully this will help it push a little bit further," added Baughn.
