Alistair Brownlee backs Olympics kit

Alistair Brownlee is one of the leading gold-medal hopes for Great Britain at the London 2012 Olympics and he has given a ringing endorsement to the kit designed by Stella McCartney that was launched on Thursday.

Up to 175,000 items of clothing will be supplied to British athletes competing in 26 Olympic and 20 Paralympic sports at London 2012 and Brownlee believes the strip is perfectly designed for triathlon.

"The kit's fantastic. It's quite simple but for me it's all about functionality," he said.

"The material's fantastic, it's fast in the water but dries quickly.

"It fits very well because you don't want it baggy in the water or too tight for the cycling and running.

"It's a really good, functional piece of kit. The kit's not everything in triathlon, but it is important."
