Alesha Dixon and David Walliams already know a thing or two about the talent that Great Britain has to offer, but right now their focus is solely on those performing on the biggest stage of all – the London 2012 Olympic Games. Days are numbered in the countdown to the greatest show on earth and this week David and Alesha are coming to the fore to praise the talent that Team GB has to offer.
They join a star-studded list of celebrities including Melanie C, Reggie Yates, Katherine Jenkins, Davina McCall and Bear Grylls who are all encouraging the nation to show their support. Their excitement is evident and they want to rally more support and enthusiasm for Team GB than any other team has ever had – and what’s more they want all 60 million of us to do our bit too.
Alesha said: “I cannot wait for the Games to start - there is so much for us all to get involved with and I wouldn’t miss it for the world! It is such an exciting time to be a Londoner but we’ve also got a lot to be proud of as a nation and we need to remember that. I just hope everyone does their bit by showing support for Team GB when they need it most. I’ve got my official supporters’ scarf and I’ve already been playing around with different ways to wear it.” Alesha is photographed experimenting with the scarf as a wristband and a bandana.
David and Alesha seem to be very much on the same page in their united front for Team GB. David says: “The reason I am so proud to be a part of this campaign is because I just have so much respect for these guys. I met some of the Team GB swimmers a few weeks ago whilst they were in training and they were just fantastic. They must have so much physical and mental strength to have got to this point - I think the least we can do is show our support for them. You can easily do your bit by waving your official supporters scarf or you can join Our Greatest Team online and leave them a personal message of support.”
Alesha and David are photographed showing their support with the limited edition supporters’ scarf - available to buy now from the Official Olympic clothing and homeware supplier, Next, in stores across the country or online at www.next.co.uk. As well as being a stylish fashion accessory it is the only garment that raises money directly for Team GB in their race to the Olympic Games.
In addition to purchasing the scarf they are recommending that you join Our Greatest Team to leave a personal message of support for the athletes. You can do this online at http://www.teamgb.com/our-greatest-team .
The scarf’s eye-catching design boasts the Team GB Lion printed across a background of 900 symbols which represent each of the 900 athletes of Team GB and Paralympics GB. It also features 60 hands symbolising the 60 million supporters of those athletes.
All profits from the sales of the scarf will go to the British Olympic Association and British Paralympic Association, helping our athletes to deliver outstanding performances in 2012 and beyond.
David and Alesha will be joined by more celebrities next week as part of the “Show Your Support” campaign.
