Adcock and White beat Olympic champions to reach final

Chris Adcock and Gabby White booked their place in the Hong Kong Open final in style, sweeping past Olympic champions Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei to do so.

Nathan Robertson and Anthony Clark’s men’s doubles triumph in Singapore four years ago remains England’s only title on the Superseries circuit to date.

However Adcock and White, England’s top-ranked mixed pairing, are now just one win away from changing that after beating their Chinese rivals in their semi-final.

The England pair wasted no time in seeing off the challenge of world number ones Nan and Yunlei, taking just 37 minutes to beat the 2011 world champions 21-12, 21-16.

Adcock and White await their opponents from Sunday’s final, with China's Cheng Liu and Bao Yixin and Hong Kong's Lee Chun Hei and Chau Hoi Wah still to do battle.

The success was particularly good news for Adcock who had earlier missed out on a place in the men’s doubles showpiece with partner Andy Ellis as they lost 21-13, 21-14 to South Koreans Kim Ki Jung and Kim Sa Rang.
