The countdown to Rio 2016 may be well and truly on but it’s not just Team GB athletes who are can enjoy their moment in the spotlight this summer, with the School Champion Award set to unearth stars a little closer to home.
Run in association with The Telegraph and Aldi, the School Champion Award aims to recognise the significant impact staff, pupils and parents alike can make to encourage the country’s little champions, whether it’s achieving academically, pursuing music, dance or arts, or building the skills and determination to succeed at a sport, activity or interest.
The competition was launched on March 18 with nominations open until May 15 before the winners are announced at a special ceremony hosted by Olympic champion Sally Gunnell at The Telegraph offices on Friday June 10.
Whether it’s a star pupil, encouraging teacher, helpful lunch staff or supportive parent, now is the time to get in contact with why your nominee is a champion!
Champions will be decided in five categories – male student, female student, teacher, parent and lunch staff – with each winner receiving £500, an award trophy and will also be featured in The Telegraph.
Double Olympic medallist Gunnell will form part of the judging panel who will make their decisions on May 26 alongside a nutritionist, Aldi representative and a journalist from The Telegraph.
So what are you waiting for?
