About Ellie

Ellie Downie made her Olympic debut at Rio 2016, finishing 13th in the all-around final after playing a key part in the team event as Team GB's women recorded a fifth place finish.

Younger sister of fellow Olympian Becky, Ellie first made a name for herself at the 2012 UK School Games where she won six gold medals before going on to compete internationally a year later.

In 2013 the Nottingham gymnast won a gold on the vault and a team silver at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Utrecht and three bronzes and a silver at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing a year later.

She made history by becoming the first female gymnast ever to win an individual all-around medal for Great Britain at the European Championships when she claimed bronze in 2015, while she helped Great Britain to a historic bronze in the World Championships team final in the same year.
