The 2010 Summer Youth Olympic Games (officially known as I Summer Youth Olympic Games) was the first of the Summer Youth Olympics, a major international sports and cultural festival, celebrated in the tradition of the Summer Olympic Games from 14 to 6 August 2010.
Team GB consisted of 40 athletes competing in 16 sports: aquatics (diving and swimming), archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, canoeing, equestrian, fencing, gymnastics, modern pentathlon, rowing, sailing, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, and triathlon.
The YOG squad included many well known names, including Tom Daley who competed for Great Britain at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China and went on to win Bronze at London 2012. Another well known name was Oliver Golding who reached the semi-finals of The Championships, Wimbledon in the boys singles of 2010. And Jade Jones who went on to become Olympic champion in taekwondo at London 2012.
