O’Connor smashed her own British record of 2:06.88 minutes to secure her place in the history books at the age of just 16.

After competing for Team GB at London 2012 and picking up a trio of European short course medals, O’Connor enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2014.

She claimed six medals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with gold in the 200m medley adding to four silvers and a bronze.

In the same year she picked up three World Championship short-course medals before winning world long course bronze in the 200m medley in Kazan and gold in the 4x100m mixed medley.

She picked up another silver medal at Rio 2016, missing out on gold by just 0.3 seconds, and added three medals in her second appearance at the Commonwealth Games two years later.

The Bath athlete defended her 200m individual medley title on the Gold Coast, while she also claimed bronze medals in the 4x100m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle relays.
