Davina, Katherine and Bear show their support for Team GB

With the Jubilee celebrations behind us and less than 50 days to go until the start of the greatest show on earth, it is time for everyone in Great Britain to stand up and be counted in their support of our Olympic team - Team GB. Together we can all be part of “Our Greatest Team”.

Today sees the start of the official Team GB “Show Your Support” campaign to galvanise the backing of the nation from now right through to the closing ceremony. Leading the way are a number of famous faces, collectively known as the ‘Team GB Great Britons’, all of whom will be encouraging people to join Our Greatest Team over the next 7 weeks. This week the Great Britons coming to the fore are Katherine Jenkins, Davina McCall and Bear Grylls.

Katherine, Davina and Bear are backing Team GB this summer and have shown their support with the supporters’ scarf - available to buy from the Official Olympic clothing and homeware supplier, Next, in stores across the country or online at www.next.co.uk .

Aside from being a flag of support and a great fashion accessory it is the only garment that actually raises money directly for Team GB in their race to the Olympic Games. All profits go directly to the team to maximize their performance at London 2012.

Katherine, recently back in the UK following her success in the US competition ‘Dancing with the Stars’, talks about her role in the campaign:

Davina says:

Bear has the ultimate respect for the Team GB athletes and the mental and physical endurance required to get them to this point. He recently demonstrated his own athletic prowess by abseiling from the ceiling of the Royal Albert Hall to greet the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during the ‘Our Greatest Team Rises’ event in May.

The scarf’s eye-catching design boasts the Team GB Lion printed across a design of 900 symbols to represent each of the 900 athletes of Team GB and Paralympics GB. It also features 60 hands to symbolise the 60 million supporters of those athletes.

All profits will go to the British Olympic Association and British Paralympic Association, helping British athletes deliver outstanding performances in 2012 and beyond.

Katherine, Davina and Bear will be joined by three more celebrities next week in the “Show Your Support” campaign.
