In 2005 Dave suffered from Unexplained Under Performance Syndrome (UPS), forcing him to miss that season and the Olympic Games. After 6months rest he started light training before he started to experience problems with old injuries. At that point he was referred to the OMI for a residential rehabilitation programme.
