Great Britain's Mara Yamauchi dropped out of the Olympic marathon shortly before the 10 kilometres mark today.

The Oxford athlete, who has been struggling with injury, was in tears as she stopped by the roadside in the London rain.

Paula Radcliffe withdrew from the event a week ago with a foot injury. Claire Hallissey and Freya Murray were the two home favourites left in the race.
