This Week in Olympic Sport: September 16-22

British success came from all angles last week but as one World Championships finish another begins. We give a flavour of the Olympic sport taking place this week below:

Triathlete Non Stanford and slalom canoeists Richard Hounslow and David Florence – the latter twice – were all crowned world champions in another glorious past week for Britain.

And this week, Sunday specifically, the curtain raises on cycling’s Road World Championships in Tuscany in Italy with the individual events to follow in the days after.

Tour de France winners Chris Froome and winner Sir Bradley Wiggins head up the British team bidding for success with Olympic silver medallist Lizzie Armitstead also in action.

Before then Wiggins will complete the Tour of Britain as stages two to eight take place this week with London, which just hosted the World Triathlon Series Final, welcoming the finale.

Elsewhere wrestling, back on the Olympic programme, stages its World Championships in Hungary while the men’s European Volleyball Championships also kick off.
