This week in Olympic sport: July 8-14

July 7 2013 will forever be remembered as the day Andy Murray won Wimbledon but this week could also be significant for British athletes across several Olympic sports. We preview a flavour of what’s in store below.

Chris Froome’s bid to keep hold of the famous Tour de France yellow jersey continues with stages ten to 15 while the week is jam-packed full of athletics from juniors right the way up to seniors.

Potential future stars of Team GB will be in action at the World Youth Championships in Donetsk while the seniors face the important World Trials & UK Championships in Birmingham.

There’s also the European Under-23 Championships in Tampere, the European Modern Pentathlon Championships in Poland and the third and final World Rowing Cup in Switzerland.

And finally, the action doesn’t quite get underway, but Sunday sees the opening ceremony of the European Youth Olympic Festival in Utrecht with a 44-strong Team GB squad set to enjoy it.
