As the summer winds down the major sporting championships ramp up with British athletes in action from America to South Korea this week. We give a flavour of the Olympic sport taking place below:
Andy Murray will kick off his bid to win back-to-back Grand Slams at the US Open while the Vuelta a Espana really gets into gear and the World Rowing Championships follow suit.
Sticking with cycling and it’s the Mountain Bike World Championships in South Africa and swapping wheels for water and the globe’s finest Finn sailors gather in Estonia for the Gold Cup.
The Laser class also has its European and World Championships while there is continental action for GB’s equestrian eventers in Malmo after their dressage and jumping counterparts’ outing in Denmark.
And, in an action-packed week of World Championship action, judo’s global gathering takes place in the next Olympic host city of Rio and the best canoe sprinters paddle in Duisburg.
