Paula Walker and Gillian Cooke were Great Britain’s best-placed finishers in Lake Placid as they finished 13th in the two-woman event.
Walker and Rebekah Wilson have impressed on the World Cup circuit this campaign, finishing inside the top ten on all three occasions.
But in Lake Placid it was Cooke who teamed up with Walker and although they slipped outside the top ten there is still plenty of positives to take from the performance.
Walker and Cooke recorded a time of 120.50 seconds in their first run but lowered that to 119.40 in their second for a total time of 1:55.05 minutes.
Elsewhere for Great Britain Mica McNeill and Nikki Sweeney finished 18th in 1:56.55, with Victoria Olaoye and Sarah Adams one place further back.
Taking gold was Canadian pilot Kaillie Humphries as she and Heather Moyse clocked a time of 1:53.66.
This was Humphries’ second win of the season and she has now won ten of the last 15 World Cup races.
America completed the podium as Elana Meyers and Lauryn Williams finished second in 1:53.78, while compatriots Jamie Greubel and Katie Eberling were 0.22 seconds further back in third.
In the men’s two-man event there was an improvement all around as John Jackson and lamin Deen piloted the sleds to one place higher than the previous day.
Teaming up once again with Craig Pickering, Jackson finished 20th in 1:52.68 minutes, while Deen and Ben Simons were five places further back.
American Steve Holcomb was left to record his sixth win from six World Cup events as for the first time in history the nation had athletes on every step of the podium with Nick Cunningham and Johnny Quinn finishing second and Cory Butner and Charles Berkeley third.
