Sam Scrimgeour believes a World Rowing Cup II silver medal is the perfect building block for he and Joel Cassells – as the lightweight men's pair gear up for the World Championships later this year.
The pair finished behind Ireland duo Mark O'Donovan and Shane O'Driscoll in Poznan as Great Britain secured their first medals on day two.
"The Worlds are the target for this year for us," said Scrimgeour, as they added to the bronze they won in Belgrade earlier this season.
"This season has been a funny one for us but we're heading in the right direction and the boats that were here were of good standard so it's been a good weekend's racing."
The weekend is likely to get even better for Britain, with eight boats competing in Olympic class A finals on Sunday.
Vicky Thornley will spearhead the charge tomorrow after storming to victory in the semi-finals of the Women's singles sculls – while Katherine Copeland and Emily Craig go in the final of the lightweight double sculls after winning their repechage.
