Twigg on target as Britain beat Germany in Mannheim

Olympic bronze medallist Georgie Twigg was on target as Great Britain beat Germany in the first of three capped matches in Mannheim ahead of England’s World League Final campaign.

Twigg, part of the British women’s hockey team that won bronze at London 2012 last summer, completed the scoring as head coach Jason Lee’s troops got the better of Germany 3-1.

Susie Townsend and Steph Elliott scored within six minutes of each other at the start of the second half before Hannah Kruger pulled one back for Germany and Twigg made the result certain.

Head coach Lee has taken a relatively inexperienced Britain squad out to Mannheim with England set to begin their World League Final campaign against Korea in Argentina on November 30.
