Team GB Luge and the Road to Sochi 2014

Britain’s sole athlete bidding to compete in luge at Sochi 2014 Adam Rosen will have opened his Olympic season at the Lillehammer World Cup with there four further rounds before the end of the year and the end of the qualifying period on December 31 2013.

Those four World Cup events take in two legs in Europe at Innsbruck in Austria and Winterberg in Germany and two in North America at Whistler, the last Olympic Winter Games venue for Vancouver 2010, in Canada and Park City in the USA.

If Rosen earns a ranking, based on World Cup points gained in the Olympic season up to December 31 2013, in the top 37 men, the British Olympic Association will be contacted by the International Luge Federation to confirm their intent to use a place at the Games.

While the Olympic qualifying period ends on December 31 2013 there are three further World Cups – all in Germany in Koenigssee, Oberhof and Altenberg – before the start of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.
