Team GB Figure Skating and the Road to Sochi

Britain’s figure skaters have long begun the road to Sochi 2014 with it confirmed that Britain will have one ladies, one pairs and one ice dance entrant.

With Jenna McCorkell securing Britain a place in the ladies and Penny Coomes and Nicholas Buckland a place in the ice dance, Stacey Kemp and David King followed suit for the pairs at the Nebelhorn Trophy in September.

Coomes and Buckland have also competed on the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series, finishing seventh at the Trophee Eric Bompard in Paris with the British Championships the next biggest thing coming up on the calendar.

McCorkell will bid for an 11th British ladies title and eighth in a row while Kemp and King are bidding for a ninth straight in the pairs and Coomes and Buckland a third in the ice dance.

Thereafter the European Championships in Budapest in January offer the last chance to impress before the Olympics get underway in Sochi a month later.
