Team Barr claims first win at World Curling

Scottish skip Kerry Barr recorded her first victory in three attempts at the women's World Curling Championships in Canada.

Barr and her rink of Rachael Simms, Rhiann Macleod and Barbara McPake narrowly beat Germany 6-5, securing the win by tapping back a German stone with the last delivery of the game.

"It's really nice to be able to finish a game off," said Barr, who lost her opening games to Latvia and Denmark.

"I've been frustrated with myself but I'm glad we've got the first win on the board. This is a massive boost to the confidence and I hope it's the start of more to come."

After five sessions Switzerland and the USA are the only unbeaten teams in the standings and Scotland continue their campaign against the winless Czech Republic and China, who also boast a 1-2 record, on Monday.
