Super Seonaid storms to World Cup Finals gold

Seonaid McIntosh underlined her Olympic credentials with gold in the ISSF World Cup Finals to complete a near-perfect 2019.

The 23-year-old took top spot in the 50m rifle final, finishing with a total of 462.1 points.

That was only five clear of home favourite Ruijiao Pei of China, while Switzerland’s Nina Christen took bronze.

McIntosh, who secured Team GB a quota place for Tokyo 2020, was third after the first discipline, scoring 154.2 in the kneeling position.

Christen had a slender lead but the world number one rebounded strongly in the prone and standing disciplines to take the title and cap off a fine season.

The Scottish athlete also secured World Cup gold in Rio in August, along with a silver, and European gold in September. Sportsbeat 2019
