Scott continues domination at Olympic test event

Giles Scott tamed a wide range of conditions to secure a morale boosting victory at sailing's Olympic test event in Rio.

Scott - who is looking to continue the British dominance in the Finn class established by Sir Ben Ainslie - had already secured the win but also claimed the double points medal race to cap a week of consistent results and was joined on the podium by team-mate Ed Wright, who took bronze.

While the Nacra 17 duo of Pippa Wilson and John Gimson and 49er pairing of Dylan Fletcher and Alain Sign secured third places in their fleets.

“It was a very pleasing day," said Scott, who will start favourite for the World Championships in Santander later this year.

"It was very windy actually – I wasn’t really expecting it to be quite so windy.  We launched in our light [wind] sails and then suddenly 20 knots came in and it was a very different day to what we expected.

“I’m very happy to have won not only today but overall.”
