Ryding takes second at Europa Cup in Chamonix

British slalom specialist Dave Ryding claimed his second Europa Cup podium of the season after a storming late run in Chamonix.

Only former world champion, Jean-Baptiste Grange, was quicker under the lights in front of his home fans at the French resort.

French team-mate Julien Lizeroux, a former world silver medallist, ranked fourth.

Ryding made his Olympic debut in Vancouver, finishing 27th, and is looking to rack up all important FIS points to meet the qualifying standard before the Sochi team is confirmed later this month.

The 27-year old won the slalom in Pozza before Christmas and last season became the first British skier to win an overall Europa Cup title.
