The Road to Sochi for British Skeleton

The qualifying window for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games has now slammed shut but that doesn’t bring an end to the action on the road to Russia.

For this last weekend of January marks the final stop of the seven venue, eight-race World Cup tour in Koenigssee in Germany.

Adding to the importance of the World Cup finale is that it also doubles up as the 2014 European Championships with sliders wanting to leave a marker heading to Sochi.

Last year’s European Championships were held in Igls and no Brit was on the podium although such is Lizzy Yarnold’s form that could all change.

Not only will she be in contention for the European title she could claim the overall World Cup crown as well while Shelley Rudman may also have a say in proceedings.

Kristan Bromley is finding form at the right time also.
