Exactly 12 years to the day that Rhona Howie won Britain’s last curling gold medal at the Olympics, Team GB men’s skip David Murdoch will look to follow suit.

His rink of Olympic newcomers Greg Drummond, Scott Andrews and Michael Goodfellow face Canada, who have lost just twice in the tournament.

Canadian skip Brad Jacobs inflicted a 7-5 defeat on the men in the round-robin stage in which Murdoch was forced to play a double takeout with his last stone and missed by a matter of millimetres.
