Phillips continues good start

Zara Phillips continued her solid start to the eventing season on Sunday in the Land Rover Gatcombe Horse Trials.

Phillips, the 2006 world champion, is rated as an outsider to make Great Britain's Olympic eventing team for London this summer.

But she has opened the campaign in confident fashion, winning at Tweseldown in Hampshire earlier this month on Silver Lining V, before finishing fourth on the same horse in Gatcombe's feature class, the advanced intermediate.

Phillips also took 11th with her Badminton horse this year and main Olympics hope High Kingdom, and 12th on Lord Lauries.

Australian Christopher Burton dominated the advanced intermediate section, securing first place on Haruzac and second with Holstein Park Leilani, while Louise Harwood was third aboard Whiston.

The open intermediate classes were won by Wills Goodhew and Michael Owen, with the novice section victors being Kitty King, Rosie Thomas and Italian rider Giovanni Ugolotti.
